i can type and type about it but never talk about

i have been molested twice. once by a woman and once by my step brother.
i try and try to suppress it but its getting harder and harder. i can type and type about it but never form the words!
how do i get over this??

You need to process what happened to you, not try to repress it. Are you in therapy right now?

Are you saying you can write about it but you just can't speak it? I was the same way for the longest time. I couldn't TALK about it, because my mind would be going in 20 different directions and if I just spoke what I was thinking then it would seem rambling and incoherent.

Writing was easier. At least then, I could get it out and then take my time to rearrange the words to make it coherent.

When you need to talk about this, such as to a therapist or counselor, sometimes it helps to write it down first in the form of an outline. Once you've gotten the words out on paper, and you're sitting there looking at them, it makes it easier to say them.

MA I've tried to repress memories and feelings for years. It's so not worth it! It doesn't help any more for me to do that or even try.
I"m much like you... I can write about it but when it comes to speaking about it, I can't do it! I have written poetry galore and journaled... but, at the same time, if I were ever to go back into counseling (or try to) I can't share with him/her,
There are MANY good friends on here and it is a GREAT place for support. I have been here for a long time (on and off) and it's been so good. I've come and gone alot... but it is always the same (helpful and supportive)every time I come back!

journaling is a very healthy way to start teh healing process. not everyone has the verbal words for it. just stating that it happened is huge...now just conintinue to move through what happened as you heal. it will get easier. one day you will talk about it as if it was yesterdays news..i promise.

Oh, dear one! You never "get over it". You will never forget. Unfortunately the past cannot be changed nor forgotten. However, we CAN rise above it, get to that place where it no longer bothers us, plagues us, haunts our dreams and our every waking moment. It takes a lot of soul searching, self analysis, and courage, just darned hard work, but there is a place we can reach where we can finally say that we are RECOVERED, that we are HEALED, and the past no longer has any influence on our NOW or our futures. And those people from our pasts stop influencing our behaviors, our life patterns, and they stop being of any import at all in our lives. We all strive, search, yearn for this point of recovery, and I know that we can make it, if we be not faint of heart, use the courage inherent in all survivors, do not fear. You and I, we can make it out of this tunnel of darkness and into the light and hope of the best future we can imagine. if we only do the work and never give up.
