Last year, I consulted for the first time with the counselor at my school. I was in such an overwhelmed and depressed state. I walked into her office and just cried. It was both, the hardest and most relieving experience. I finally told someone the secret that I had been hiding for 21 years. I told her that I had been molested by my babysitters son, who was 6 years older than me. It started when I was 5 and stopped when I was 10. I think for the longest time I repressed everything and labeled it as two kids exploring their sexuality. I realize now at 26, that it just wasn't the case. I was scared, I was young and I remember protesting against his advances. I feel so mad at myself for not telling anyone about it. I could've changed the course of my entire life, if I would've just told my parents. Now, I'm stuck with dealing with all the consequences and negative effects on my relationships. I don't trust men. I push everyone away. I have trouble forming/maintaining intimate relationships. I really don't know what to do or where to go from here. It's just so hard. I went to see this counselor last march til july, it helped somewhat but I just wasn't seeing any positive results. Where do I go from here? How am I supposed to start healing?
