I have never actually been in a support group for the things that happened to me. My daughter almost a year ago disclosed she was being sexually abused and we are in the process of going through the legal system. I never had my mom support me when I disclosed. How does this group work? Do we just post what's on our minds?

Yes.. you’re welcome to talk about anything.. though the one big thing is, since everyone me is at different levels of recovery, we suggest writing “ TRIGGER ALERT” or something like trigger warning if you are talking about details of things..

Otherwise, the forum is pretty open.

Are you and your daughter seeking therapy? I would suggest it for the both of you.. also, is there a victim advocate through the courts you can get in contact with? They can really be a big help..

Hang in there .. the road will get bumpy..

Welcome! I'm happy to "meet" you! I too come from a childhood of sexual abuse and as a parent now, it was my number one priority to protect my children and know that they have a voice and choice over their own body.
I'm so very proud of you for standing up for your daughter, I'm also VERY sorry that she too has been subject to this same type of abuse. Having you there and your support will mean the world to her. I just wanted to give you a "atta girl" shout out and tell you welcome. I pray you find peace in the midst of your turmoil.

    I was sexually assaulted as a kid.  I find it hard to accept that another person's actions caused me so much harm.  He made bad choices and now I am paying the price.  Stupid PTSD!
