I am trying to find other people out there to talk to that were in the system sometime while growing up. If anyone on here was a foster kid or know where a site would be please let me know.

I was 15 when I was placed in foster care and finished growing up there. Very messed up situation. I'm glad that I was able to get out of the abuse and get therapy, but my foster parents weren't much better.

i was a foster child - ive requested ds set up a "foster care" support group for people who have been in care or who are in care - maybe you should suggest it too ? x

I was a kid placed in a home when I was almost 2 I think..I was born and my mom left me! don't know who my dad is or mom..but here I am and I don't know of a site,but there are most likely alot of us here...I was also in other foster home after that..

This is something that's close to my heart. My parents fostered 26 kids, kept one, and keep in touch with some of the others. Many were pre-adoption babies, some were place of safety, and we loved every single child who came through our doors. It makes me so sad to hear of children who were damaged by their foster-families. I'll contact my brother and ask him if he's ever heard of such a group.

I was never a foster child but from age 10-18 i grew up in mental hospitals,group homes, and resditanls and my anut adopted a boy he is only 14 and the sad part is hisma does not want him back

Thank you so much for the replies. Makes me feel better, I have been on this site 3 months and never heard it mentioned. I was in foster care for 5 years. 34 homes counting the group homes, mental hospitals, and homes. Thank you all. This really does make me feel better.

This is a great idea in theory, but you cannot ask people for their phone numbers on here. Also a lot of people don't feel comfortable talking. You can start your own group on DS for current or former foster kids.
