they will always come back, when they do, think of a time or place immediately that was good, happy, calming, almost everyone has a place like that in their mind.

In my exerience, until you deal with the reality of the flashbacks, they will continue to come back. There's a saying "What you resist, persits." I've found that to be true in my recovery. One thing that has been very helpful for me is EMDR. Its a very gentle way to heal trauma. I highly recommend it.

Take them one at a time, remember they are only memories, and can't hurt you. Also, think about your faviorite place in the whole world, and find that place, find the beauty, smells, tastes, everything about that place. It will help you get through the flash backs. Meds can help too, just until you learn to deal with them on your own.

just cry it out while its happening - thats what i do. i cry through out. thats what i should have done the first time around!

I meditate on my flashbacks, I make sure that I get away from everyone - at work I sneak to the bathroom. I just concentrate on my breathing and count the exhales until ten and then start again.

If I am in private I write it all out in my abuse journal - I carry it everywhere with me. I am gentle with myself and allow myself to cry. Flashbacks are horrible and they feel like complete punishment but they help you heal. You will make it - no one can abuse you anymore.
