Dear diary 




I really wish my mum would quit asking me if I’m okay I’m sick of saying yes I am fine but is a lie and a big one, I wish she would believe me when I say what happened to me growing up from ages 10 till 15 is the truth why would I make something like up just to get attention I don’t think so my dad used me as a punching bag and his friend would use me in other ways. Maybe because I was scared, very confused and lonely kid that he knew he could keep me quiet which he did. He sexually abused me and it is something I never get over or get past that I fear I will be on my own for the rest of my life I just don’t know what to do that I find it very hard to sleep and trust people.

Your mum may never believe you because it would be so painful for her to face the truth that she did not protect you. Maybe she needs you to be "okay" so she can feel okay about herself as a mother. That's all her stuff - her issues - so you really can't worry about it.

But you can heal from your past a great deal. Are you in therapy? Are you working on healing? I hope you will because you deserve to heal and have a good life.

One place to start that a lot of people have found useful is the book "Courage to Heal".

I went through the same thing. It is tough to deal with... My mother didn't believe me when I told her. She is in denial still. It'll be fine over time you will be okay. If you need help with this tell me and I will try to help you get through this. You might not know me but I will be willing to help you get through this as much as possible.

Thank you for both of your replies i just don’t know where to start I’ve been to the doctor and have been diagnosed with depression so I’m on tablets for that. Sometimes I just feel people would be better off if I was no longer around not that I would ever do that it’s just sometimes the feelings of not being good enough or being dirty because of what happen to me. How do I get past these feelings and feeling ashamed of the way my body reacted to the abuse.

Oh honey. My heart goes out go you. I feel your pain. My Mom didn't believe me either. Therapy and support. And know you are not alone.

In New here and am unable to give advice but I can share with you the pain of having your mother not believe you. Also the shame. Lots of guilt and shame. I pray we all find the answers. I could be wrong but if your mom keeps asking how you are I believe it's her way of telling you she knows you're not ok and that she cares.
