after my ex raped me i started snorting coke to deal since i had quit cutting and i was having fun partying with my friends and being reckless not knowing if id wake up the next morning and not caring. But then i started to go back to church and hang with my friends there and i was balancing both lifestyles and then i realized its not possible so i tried quitting the drugs but being around my friends who do it makes it nearly impossible. but i love my friends they are great people and im actually happy and i can be myself around them and i can with my friends from church too well most of the time but i dont wanna lose my friendships. I dont know what to do... they say i cant live for god and be around poeple who do drugs and stuff but why not? and where in the 10 commandments does it say not to do drugs i sure havent found it. im losing my mind here im not like the people at church who have conversations with god and can understand the bible and stuff but im not like the others who dont know god or chose not to follow him but i love all of them. what should i do??? i dont fit in anywhere completely.
Even recreational drug use is very likely to become habitual use, and that tends to drag us into addiction and trying "new and better" highs, and finally you lose everything worth any value in your life, and quite often you lose your life as well. The bible states that The thief comes not but for to kill, to steal and to destroy. I am come that ye may have life, and that more abundantly. (probably not a perfect quote, but I'm a little rusty) To kill and to destroy are NOT the same in this verse. You can be destroyed without being killed. Think of all the things in your life that can be destroyed! And once you are at that state of being totally destroyed, miserable and in despair, then comes death. Drugs destroy. Period. Your christian friends care about you and do NOT want you to be destroyed. Your druggie friends just flat out don't care, for themselves or for you, though it may seem otherwise. Simple as that.
Anyhow, just an old ex~junkie's opinion on this. Hope it helps some.
