I have a history of self-harm dating back to when I was small. As a child, after abuse, I would punch myself in the arm. In high school, I started cutting. I have been working with my therapist and have not cut for 9 weeks. I was especially triggered last week but didn't want to cut. Went back to my old standby. When I was honest about it with my therapist, I felt extremely embarrassed and like a total failure. She said it will be incredibly difficult to stop because I have been doing it for so long. Made me feel like I am screwed and my situation is pretty hopeless. Is there any hope?
