I'm a mother of a victim and I feel completely alone in this. The man I totally adored and was blindly in love with was the molester. We now live squeezed into two bedrooms at my parent's home while he gets to keep our beautiful home. We are struggling with therapy bills and just hanging on to life and he is still free and may not even be prosecuted. He lives just a few blocks away and my children and I are a complete mess. It's been 3 months ago today. I wonder if there is anyone else out there who has walked in my shoes because I feel like I'm the first and definitely want to be the last, but I doubt it. I'm sad to hear that too many mothers turned a blind eye instead of leaving. I left, but it's been hell. Is there anyone else out there?

I am not in your shoes. I am so sorry for these dark times.
My heart really goes out to you. I know you will find people here who can relate. I admire your courage and strength. I hope things get better for you soon.

I just wanted to say I'm sorry you and your daughter have to go through what you're going through.

And to applaud you for taking such swift and decisive action. It'll still be a struggle for a while but your strength and protection of her gives her strength to deal with this horrible thing. I commented because I have been shocked and sickened at how many mothers don't do what you did. Many on this site had or have mothers who chose to not believe their daughters and stay with the perp. Your daughter is fortunate to have a real mother...one who has the strength to do the right thing.

Your daughter is lucky to have you. I don't really get support from my mom and feel very alone and stuck because I don't know how I can heal from what happened to me I can't even talk to my councilors about it.

I am a childhood survivor and the mother of one. We don't know exactly who her abuser was as she was pretty young when it happened. I didnt in fact realize it had happened and neither did she until she started self injurying. I applaude you for taking a stand against this man. You ever need to talk my mail is always open.

I have indeed walked in your shoes - that father of my daughter abused both of my children. Anytime you want to talk please message me - I will help as much as I can. In the meantime please don't blame yourself - there is no way you could have known - I didn't and I am a survivor myself! I am the mother of K. She was molested by her cousin. I am not talking to my sister because she wants to put part of the blame on my 7 yr old. "he" says it was just that one time. They believe him. No one else does. Even if it was "just once" that was too much. he was old enough to know it was wrong. I am proud of you for leaving. Your children need you to protect them. Excellent job. I too trusted the abuser. 13 yr old nephew from a christian home. They are manipulative pervs.

I wanted to commend you - I told my mother and she did nothing - I suffer more pain at my family turning their back on me than with the residual effects of the abuse.
You are doing ok, you are not alone!

I am a survivor of incest and rape. My daughter was molested for 2 years (ages 3-5) by her step-brothers until she admitted it to me. They were prosecuted... boys school for a year and the 18yr. old was in prison for a year and let out on good behavior after 8mths.
It is disgusting what they get away with. They stole my baby's innocence and destroyed her. The did not penetrate but did everything else. It is pure hell... I am so sorry for you and your daughter. my daughter was also sexually abused by my nephew on husbands side.I had to press charges and now husbands whole family wants nothing to do with us. I would do it all over again in a heart beat.my daughter needs to feel safe.it is hard but you did the right thing.

It seems hard now, but you'll get through it. Your daughter will appreciate you stepping up as her protector a lot more then she will complain about an uncomfortable living situatuon. She's safe with you. You're a real woman who does what it takes to protect your child, instead of thinking about you and your feelings about this person. No one will ever love you like your child and I commend you for knowing what you had to do as someones mother, and not act selfishly for the sake of your own feelings. You're a wonderful mom.

This is K. I am 7. I was sexually abused. Your kids are not the only people who were sexually abused. Do you know anybody else who was sexually abused? That was the right thing to do. To leave. your kids will be happy. It would be hard for them if you hadnot left. You are a good mommy for doing that. I feel scared when I see my abuser. Now I am getting better because I am going to counseling. Have you tried that.
