i applaud your anger with the system. it shows the victim that you do really care. go ahead and feel and share this with them.
this is normal. a rollarcoaster ride nonetheless...doesnt make it right, but at least you are responding in a healthy way.

Afraid that the system will look at this as "human error, no real harm." or "perp is too old to be a danger any longer". At least, I feel I did something this time.....God how I hope that it does some good for justice sake.
The GUILT is easy to dispose of: There is no cause for guilt. To understand why there is no guilt it is important to understand the concept of Culpability, a common-law concept that goes all the way back to at least Roman times (Culpa = latin, "Guilt"). Culpability in such a situation arises from either recklessness or negligence. Recklessness would mean that you saw a hazard, KNEW it was a hazard, ignored the hazard, and proceeded anyway. I highly doubt this was the case, so that's a non-starter.
Negligence is a little trickier, but I doubt it applies either. Negligence is less than recklessness, it's when you don't see what everyone else would have seen. The key concept here is not that you didn't see what SOMEONE else MIGHT have seen, but what EVERYONE else WOULD have seen. This is an important distinction. So, I doubt there's any culpability or cause for guilt here.
As for ANGER, well, anger is not always a bad thing. There is such a thing as "Righteous Anger", a concept that for christians goes back to at least Ephesians 4:26: "Be Angry, yet do not sin". Anger is okay, as long as it doesn't become destructive.
It makes me so mad that no one listened to me. That I didn't just go all Rambo and take matters into my own hands and break up the situation. However, I know in reality, I cannot impose MY WILL upon anyone.....
It's just brings up all the anger and makes me want to shake the people I warned and they didn't listen and makes me feel guilt because I think if I'd have went Rambo, maybe I could have protected those I love.
It's really a useless vicious "what if", "why didn't I" circle. At least the PA has my statement and I hope, if I get asked, to be a witness to the perp's character and maybe, God willing, the so-called justice system will work this time.
It's been my experience that people rarely look at logic or truth on this subject, ESPECIALLY when it involves family members. It usually boils down to how much they liked or disliked the person(s) involved beforehand. People tend to look for reasons to confirm their own notions, discarding everything else. And if you try to change anyone's mind they'll assume you're only speaking because of your own biases. This is human nature.
Reasons to believe he may be checking out old avenues (former victim area). I called to alert the victim who is now an adult and able to defend themselves more readily, and was assured the situation would be taken seriously.
Have found out since perp has failed to register that not only I have been tracked down, located, but others in my family as well. I told my hubby that I can't breathe (emotionally/physically) as long as perp is alive. No, I do not wish perp dead. BUT I DO hope the full 18 yrs do get applied as you get 1-3 yrs per felony. So, perp could get 1, 3, 6, or 18 depending on if it runs consecutive or concurrent. If perp gets full 18 yrs., odds are death will come in that time frame as current age is in 80's. However, the fact perp is nosing around and tracking and been seen in our various locales scares me.
THAT's WHY I CALLED THE PA to let them know all the info and that it is more than a failure to register issue.
No, no one listened. And believe me, there is no joy in being right in a situation like this. The longer this nightmare is part of my past, makes it still very much a part of my present. I also keep finding out even more danger signs and more victims who did not come forward.
God is giving me the grace to not be resentful as well as the ability to pray for the perp's salvation and the perp's family. But, I do ask God that He sees justice done and I trust my Heavenly Father to do what is right and best. I don't need to understand.....only have faith, trust, & believe.
I told hubby that I've called the PA and made my statement. I further explained I am not doing so from MALICE, VENGEANCE, REVENGE, etc. tho that would be easy. Hubby, is not a christian, and I wanted, as he asked, him to have a good witness through this situation.
I assured hubby that my giving a statement is just to assure that the PS knows it is more than failure to register, the threat is still real as is the danger. I did my citizen duty. Further, I CAN HONESTLY SAY, should the perp be in an accident, and I were first on scene, I would administer aid until help arrived then be GONE! But, make no mistake, if perp willfully came onto my property, I would warn, then shoot without any hesitation. That is the difference between REVENGE and FORGIVENESS. Forgiveness still allows me to protect myself and my family without WILLFULLY desiring to avenge myself.
Does all that make sense? Hope so. Still holding my breath and will see what the weeks/months hold.....
