I am changing my name. It is a new beginning in healing. A big step was to let everyone know at church of this as definite. I changed it on the bulletin and I was really nervous , I knew that this is what I needed and God was leading me to do. I did it and now I feel like I accomplished a great big thing. I feel like there is a light at the end of the tunnel. This has been a process and still going on . I feel like I have taken back something that has always been mine. Our mission conference is this week and couldn't be better timing. We had a missionary from Uganda and he came and explained to us couples about what kids need and he pretty much said . They need you, Not things. They need to know they are more important than anything. other than God. Whats more important have devotions with your family and have fun. Act out the bible stories, laugh and all of their children were raised in the ministry. He was not raised in church , He was a drunk and was very self involved. God got ahold of his heart and saved him and then it was a process of letting God have control of his life. He was very real and very sincere and he is a missionary to Africa. I feel like God is changing my life and if he can take me and allow me to remember what my life was before. I am not quite sure where it will lead me, I do not hate the people who hurt me. I feel sorry for them and I do love them. They have just trusted in the wrong source. I know some have gotten out of that life i hope because of me. I was saved as a child and am glad of that. I just hope I can help one person get closer to the Lord. I am on my way!

Many survivors change their name which can be symbolically powerful.
Some change it as a way of distancing themselves from the past which sometimes makes the healing work approachable since they can now refer to "X" (their former name) who was abused, while others change it to signal a new beginning.
It is clear you changed it to signal a new beginning.

Anyway, I digress. I have considered changing my name to Annie- because I relate to It now. Annie is the one dealing with my childhood trauma. Not that I have any type of splitting going on personality wise but I have considered it. A lot. However, since all of my legal documents AND my grown children's legal documents have my real name on them, I haven't taken that step.
I admire you so for doing this. In my current state, it would be a way for me to run even more from my pain and I don't want to do this. I would prefer it to be a new beginning instead.
