Many survivors change their name which can be symbolically powerful.
Some change it as a way of distancing themselves from the past which sometimes makes the healing work approachable since they can now refer to "X" (their former name) who was abused, while others change it to signal a new beginning.
It is clear you changed it to signal a new beginning.

Anyway, I digress. I have considered changing my name to Annie- because I relate to It now. Annie is the one dealing with my childhood trauma. Not that I have any type of splitting going on personality wise but I have considered it. A lot. However, since all of my legal documents AND my grown children's legal documents have my real name on them, I haven't taken that step.
I admire you so for doing this. In my current state, it would be a way for me to run even more from my pain and I don't want to do this. I would prefer it to be a new beginning instead.
