Healing the Memories
Memories of a pain thats runs so deep
Memories of a child who often would weep.
For she knew pain, and she knew despair
They treated her like she wasnt even there.
They were not parents, loving and true
Staying in her room, she was sad and so blue
She was so innocent, all she needed was care
Speak of her pain, she just would not dare.
She remembers his touch, the leer on his face
A look in her mind she cannot erase.
He was so scary, she hated him so
He touched her that day, she could not say no.
Four years old, so innocent and sweet
Often she felt like a waif on the street.
No place to call home, where would she go
Abused and forgotten, so many years ago
But there are memories hidden, but still there
Waiting for a voice and for someone to care
She carried shame for so many years
And with that shame came also many fears
These fears have plagued her even today
The memories have kept the secret at bay
Oh to rid of the memories, of this I pray
To be free of this pain, and make it go away.
My heart it is broken, remembering a past
Wondering each day, how long will this last.
Am I ready to delve into this hell?
Am I ready to speak, am I ready to tell?
Of a childhood that always was wrought with pain
Remembering the trauma, I have much to gain
So I sit here praying to the God up above
Who has guided me thru and showed me His love
Memories of a pain thats runs so deep
Memories of a child who often would weep.
For she knew pain, and she knew despair
They treated her like she wasnt even there.

That is awesome Jeanette! I love it. Did you write it? I know that writing poems and just writing helps me so much. God Bless! I hope you are well and that Thanksgiving was good to you!

Thank you Dawn. Yes I did write it. Ever since I have been on this journey since 1987 I have been writing poems. I will try to post more of them. Writing helps me get in touch with that wounded child inside of me.
