I was so busy going through my partners subscription porn emails and links to delete and clear them from his email accounts, so when he's at work or home when he sees the email it wont be a trigger. I was fine earlier in the night. I was fine for weeks now but got triggered and just slipped up. I am beyond disappointed. i could hear my conscience telling me to exit but there were so many negative reminders of the past popping up in my memory and i shut down and got glued to the screen. Time for bed. Cant wait for this battle to be over.

Don’t to be hard on yourself. We fall all the time but what’s important during that fall is to get back up and start again. There’s too much pressure for us to be perfect and that’s far from truth. You slipped today but tomorrow will be a new day.

Slipping up happens and is ok. What I do when I slip up I tell myself "look how long you were able to go this time". You can do better and I right a contract with myself to not view porn or act out in sexual misconduct again sign and date it. Then if I slip up again I can see how long I have lasted and see if I am making progress. For myself I have found I am in a 3 month cycle of self destruction. I just messed up last week so mid May will be a struggle for me. I am determined to break the cycle this time. Hope this makes sense and you find it helpful

In the early stages of recovery slipping may happen. The best thing is not to get discouraged or give up ...that just starts the cycle all over again. But you have to be careful that you arent self sabotaging your success. Dont tell yourself its okay, i will try again, etc. Those types of conversations with yourself give yourself permission to slip up. Instead change the thoughts and the words. Is it really okay that you slipped? Of course not because the shame and guilt comes right back to the surface and you start all over again. No one wants to fail. If after a few weeks or months you are still slipping something in your recovery isnt solid, are you attending therapy? meetings? blocking software installed? Do you have some healthy go to things to do instead of looking at porn? When you have a whole lot of things to help you get through triggers and desires without slipping up you are in true recovery and slipping wont be an issue. You will look back years from now and say wow i cant believe i really lived like that. Society has changed the way we view sex, and it has become a NEED and we dont really need sex. We need food, water and air. Nothing more. When you start to get some time sober you will see sex differently, and see it as intimacy, and closeness not just the climax. Will you get urges? Sure but ask yourself this question, "will i die if i dont have sex or have an orgasm?" SO when those urges or triggers come ask yourself that question and do EVERYTHING to avoid the slip. Turn off the computer, go for a walk, call a friend, bake, exercise, go for a drive.
