This is new to me, but I've got to start somewhere. I've never really viewed my porn watching behavior as a problem. It doesn't get in the way of my daily life, but I've started sneaking out of my bedroom in the middle of the night to masturbate and watch it, so my wife won't find out. Now, I'm not sure if porn is causing my insomnia or if my insomnia is causing me to watch porn, but it's a problem. My wife has caught me a couple times and it makes me sick to my stomach to see how it has affected her. I love my wife with all my heart, and I would never want to do anything purposely to hurt her, but she says it feels like I'm cheating on her when I do it. For so reason, even knowing that, I still do it. I guess the first step to fixing a problem, is admitting you have one. Well, I have an addiction/compulsion to porn and I want to stop! Thank you for all who read this! I needed to say that publicly and put that down in writing!

So now you see how it is destroying our lives,
You see how it has caused us to being less intimate with the ones we love including ourselves.
It has caused us to focus on our addiction and not other greater things in life.
It caused us to turn away from family, self and God.
Others see our addiction and fear saying anything.
We gave our addiction time, and there by taking away time from other things.
Porn and masturbation will lead to poisoning the soul, We have been destroying our souls with porn, smut and masturbation.
We fight the loneliness thoughts, the lack of self worth, or lack of self love.
We feed our fear, we feed the desire to be lusted after. Our spirit is in ruin.
It sends our life into a terminus state of destruction, loss of self, loss of family, loss of believing in a higher power, a power greater than ourselves.
When we stop drinking in the lust, imagines, and fantasizes it hurts we are in pain and fear. We are afraid to voice our pain and listen to our hurt.
I pray you find help, an accountability partner, and are able to turn to God.

What you have done so far are the most important steps. Now you need to educate yourself, especially why you are having insomnia. It might be related to porn, it may not. But I do know that porn changes your brain. Try getting the book, “Every Man’s Battle” by Stephen Arterburn. I have recommended it over and over because I know it works. This book explains many things you might be wondering about now. Read and understand it first, then go to the author’s website called New Life Live. They have lots of articles on the site and even have a radio program where people call in with problems. Google it. They have helped a number of guys I know. It seems that your addiction is not yet as bad as others I have seen. I believe you will have better days ahead.

Welcome to the group. Admitting that you have a problem is always a step in the positive direction as well as seeking support. It's important to use your free time to try and understand what causes the desire to move to porn as well to see if it is linked to your insomnia.
We are all here for you and know that times will get tough but the end result is always worth it.
