Sexual addiction, also sometimes called sexual compulsion, is a form of psychological addiction to sexual intercourse and other sexual behavior.
My SO knows i watch porn and worries it might cause me to love her less. My SO also watches porn but not to the same extent. My SO worries i will find soneone else on the internet, that porn makes me dissatisfied, that there is an allure to the internet stranger akin to porn. I've done it before. Cybercheated on an ex. How do i know it won't happen again? I want to quit. I don't feel capable of it. Not a single day goes by that I don't look at and masturbate to porn.
I had alot of the same behaviors as you did. I did talk to other women online in many different forums like chat rooms, dating sites, virtual reality games, etc. I am also addicted to porn and would watch it compulsively. I used it in the morning to wake up, night time to go to sleep, and during the middle of the day to give myself an energy boost. I tried to quit years ago by joining a site like this one, but I never followed up. I wish that it had worked out for me, because my behaviors just escalated. My current partner discovered my infidelity (both online and in real life). After alot of pain and hard work, we are both in recovery from sex addiction and codependency, and we are also working on our relationship. We both see therapists and attend our individual 12 step meetings and also a joint 12 step meeting to work on our coupleship.
In the beginning, I thought I would just attend a few meetings to satisfy my partner and so she wouldn't kick me out of the house. I found so much love and acceptance and understanding from my fellow sex addicts that I knew that's where I belonged. Many of them had almost the exact same experiences as me.
There is hope. The first step is willingness to work on it. Thanks for posting and sharing your struggles with us. It takes alot of courage.
