I am a porn addict.

I am a porn addict.  It has affected me since I was 9 years old when I found my father's magazines under his mattress.  It has affected my marriage, my kids and close friends.  I've tried quitting numerous times, still trying but nothing seems to work.  Attended 1 sex addicts anonymous meeting recently and found some support.  However, I am tired of fighting this war inside my own head.  I'm ready to give up trying for good.

That is a good place to start from. I began my journey of hope when I came to understand that I was powerless-that my life had become unmanageable.

I have been working the 12 Steps in SAA and almost 8 Months sober. It works if you work it. Get to 2 or 3 meetings a week if you can. I have a face to face group in my area, which is my home group but I also join 2 Skype calls a week. The SAA Uk website or the international SAA site has about these.

Think seriously about getting a sponsor as soon as you can. My Sponsor has been amazing and without my sponsor, I would not have got this far. Progressing through the first steps has made such a difference to my sex addiction. I may always be a sex addict but I can live a better life one day at a time.

You are not alone. I myself am starting the road to ending my porn addiction. I have been addicted since I was 9 or 10. My marriage is close to ending because not only porn but also all the lies I have told my wife. Just know your not alone. Where I live I am finding resources hard to come by so I am hoping to find help here. The hardest battle is inside our brains! Good luck to you! And never give up because it is never to late to change.

Thank you for sharing. Let your heart not be troubled. There is hope. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. I was 7 when I first watched triple x videos. I got my wires crossed that it was love and I searched for love in acting out but it never satisfied and always left me feeling empty. Both Chocol8 and JC84 have some great suggestions and the road to a new life. Find a local 12 step group... Celebrate Recovery, SA, SLA... make it a goal to hit 90 meetings in 90 days if you can. Get a sponor and work the steps. Enlarge your spiritual life. You'll be amazed before your halfway done. You'll find that the connection you've always been looking for, in the wrong places, is actually a search for the real connection with God. I didn't know that before I started working recovery. It's the only thing that fills the empty voids that we've been trying to fill with porn. I'll be praying for you. God speed bro!
