This is my first time doing any post about any problem that I have had. I feel that this is important to get out in the open. About a week ago I came to the conclusion the hard way that I have a problem. This problem has cost me the trust of the one that means the most to me and I really hate this. I want things to go back to the wah they where before this dark secret came to the light. I have been tring to look for someone to talk to about this that understand and ge advice. I'm not religious at all and all that I see keep saying turn it over to God. That wo t work for me for I have never been religious. I just want a way to start to mend this and help my wife to see that she doesnt have to compete with what I was doing and that she is perfect that it was me that have a problem. I have been clean for one week now witch I feel is amazing but I want to insure my wife that she wasnt the problem. Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi - First off, congrats on reaching 1 week! That’s amazing. I understand what you are going through. I am also going through something similar., Have you considered reaching out to a counselling service to speak to a psychologist or social worker to better understand your addiction and what you can do to stop?

I have looked into counseling and other things to help. The only issue I ran into is they are a long drive away and right now money wise not affordable. I have been doing lots of research and decided I would start going to the gym and focusing on self worth and getting a hobby. This has helped the problem of the addiction. The only thing that it doesnt seem to help is for me to be able to convince my wife that she doesnt have to compete with that and that that part of my life I have put behind me and trying my best to keep it there.

You don't have to be religious to turn it over to God. Your higher power, your greater strength. Don't look at the word God as in the bible and church and pastors etc. Esentially the phrase means give it to your higher power, admitting you can't do it on your own, and that you need spiritual guidance from whatever source you deem is your power. You don't have to be religious to talk to God. We all wish we have all the answers but I think allot of us have experienced of Devine intervention that helps through the bad times. Nothing massive like angels and demons but even simple things like the feeling of inner peace out a joyous memory. The simple things like that can even have the greatest impact on getting the help we need

I'm in the same boat as you, Wulf. You don't need to be religious to get help. Talking to a counselor is a great start and help.
To Scaredandafraid, I don't think you understand. You can't turn it over to a God or talk to a God if you don't believe in the mere concept of it. Not everyone believes in a God or higher power. That's why groups such as this or counselors and a great tool for help and making change.

You have a wife, you should be having sex with her. If i had a wife, i would try different things like feet worship and bondage with her. Etc. Its not a sin to have sex with your wife. Its a good thing to have a wife.
