All addictions are triggered by underlying emotional issues, such as depression, anxiety, ptsd, etc.

Talk to your doctor who will evaluate you to find out what those issues are. After the diagnosis is made, you might get a prescription to take, or you might get referred to counseling or you might be given a combination of both which is often the case. In the end, it's totally your decision regarding what treatment options, you feel are best for you. Nobody can make you do anything you don't want to do. It's totally your choice. Nobody has to know as well, because there are very strong laws to enforce confidentiality between doctor and patient.

I know the feeling. I have struggled with this same issue for most of my life. I'm engaged to a wonderful woman and I keep trying to sabotage it with porn. It's so hard to explain. It's like I just can't stop.

I am in the same boat I think. I came close to visiting an escort, I even went to her hotel but i froze when she answered the door.

My entire life became a sexual fantasy. Reality stopped. The sex I had with my wife of 8 years turned into a porno. Sex became all I could think about. I was unhappy and porn/sex fixed it for a little while. Then guilt kicked in and the pain starts over and porn fixed it again. Then I betrayed my wife and hurt our family and it all ended. She told me I had a problem and I deflected it argued. Didn’t want to admit it. Now it’s too late and I can’t fix our relationship. Admitting you have this issue is a great first step though but you have to follow through. Talk to your primary care provider and tell them about this. There are some medicines that might help. They can also refer you to a good therapist. Everyone needs help sometimes in life. Most times it’s easy to fix on your own. An addiction is nothing to ignore.
