Cold Turkey ?

My husband admits to me that prior to our relationship he was an avid user of porn sites. He told me he would have CAM Sites (not sure of spelling) up all the time mainly because he was lonely or depressed.
He said since we have been together he has no need or desire to do so any longer. He is rarely online and works for a company that has strict internet policies.
My question is " Is it really that simple? Can my husband really feel he no longer needs porn just because of our relationship? He is seeing a therapist for the depression and is working through all of those issues .I just want to make sure i am not being overly optimistic that he has or can stop looking at porn "Cold Turkey"...

Perhaps he was not an addict, he was just bored...

or, he is love addicted to you and you are his new drug...

or, he is in the honey moon phase of the love addiction/love avoidance cycle. How long have you been married?

or, he is working with a therapist and he is addressing his undelrying issues.

Yes, it is possible but the answer may not necessarily be comforting.

Or it is possibly that he is not using, which may means he is dealing with it or it may means he is a "dry drunk" whch means not suing, but the adiction is still active in his other thughts an behaviors.

I say take it with a grain of salt. its not impossible for such a thing to happen "quitting cold turkey" but there is such a thing as relapse or binging. so don't set yourself up for disappointment but also don't be pessimistic stay somewhere between the both. A happy medium is best. That way if he does relapse it wont be a shocker and if he does succeed it will be a pleasant surprise. The most important thing to keep in mind is that his disease is about his battles with himself. Also keep in mind if he does relapse it's not because of you. That is so long as you don't pop an xx video in the dvd player while he's watching the news LOL just kidding. Your husband I'm sure loves you or he would not have married you. So it could verry well be true because when an addict has something to occupy himself with he is less likely to relapse and if you are that something then that's great!!! best wishes to ya.

I just want to clarify something as I do agree with everyone here but about Xaddict's statement regarding an if the addict has something new to occupy himself with....Well like Sober said it is possible for the addict to switch from the porn to you if he is a love addict. But if he is a love addict and becomes addicted to you he is bound to smother you and drive you to avoiding him.

Thank you all for your responses! At the least I will continue to learn as much as possible and communicate with him in such a way that he feels he can communicate with me in an open and honest way without fear of repercussions.
