My husband was acused by my 13 yr old cousin for grabbing her hand masturbating, and touching her breasts. This simple description is so hard for me to process. We went through trial and 11 of the 12 jury found him not guilty. He eventually plead guilty. And even though I didn't see anything it's so difficult to be 100% certain he didn't do it. 60-70% of the times we have sex I wonder if that's how he touched her. How do I overcome that? It's been 3 yrs. I thought as time went by it would get better. But it hasn't.
And because he had to start treatment every week... the subject is brought up every week. He says I'm what keeps him going but this is all so hard. I'm thinking of starting counseling because it's starting to overwhelm me.
I attend S-Anon (sanon.org), a 12-step meeting for friends and families of sexaholics. There I am learning how to have an intimate, healthy relationship with my incarcerated, 2nd time sex offender, fiancé. I also learn what is acceptable for me. Counseling helps tremendously, too.
When I can and have the time, as I am having some health problems, I usually post regarding legal problems registrants may have, but ScaredKittie’s post is so important----and such good advice. I have been in support of wives/mothers/GFs for almost 20 years, and getting YOURSELF into therapy is SO essential for your mental health.
Therapists usually help a wife sort all this mess out to the extent that the family can start to heal from this tragedy and more important YOU can heal. It is very difficult for anyone to go through this ordeal without some form of therapy.
Listen to ScaredKitty. She is going through much the same issues you are and she knows how important therapy can be.
I’m going to answer for Rew... most cities have clinics that base their fee on a sliding scale based on your income. There are some clinics that waive the fee if you can prove you are low-income. I recommend googling health clinics in your city and call and ask. Blessings!
I appreciate the words. I did visit a counselor to say all this to a human. There is literally nobody in my life who I can talk to. Nonetheless, I'm moving fwd to divorce. All this is not healthy for me.
I pray for everyone on herr because all these situations are extremely difficult.
