Sensory Integration Disorder Support Group
Sensory Integration Disorder is a neurological disorder causing difficulties with processing information from the five classic senses, the sense of movement, and/or the positional sense. Sensory integration disorders vary between individuals in their characteristics and intensity.
I really take care of myself when people around me have a virus because, like you, it really affects me. Other than that I allow myself to explore the limits of what I can tolerate without overdoing it. I find that mild exposure to things builds my tolerance and coping mechanisms. Without that exposure I start getting overly sensitive again.
I'm not sure if you have "crossed wires" like I do; dampening other senses can help me process another. Wearing hearing protection and sunglasses can help me with vestibular issues, so that my brain isn't overloaded. I'm totally that person with earplugs and sunglasses on.
I wish they'd diagnosed you properly the first time so you wouldn't have had those inner ear injections :( Mine has a silver lining - I can detect earthquakes before they hit! I get so sick though, it's enough to make me want to move to where there are no earthquakes.
Oh, I am new to the group
