Hello I just joined this group.  My husband is deceased and so here I am 60 and single.  I am just finally at a place where I am ready to dip my toes into the dating game.  It is a very different world out there than it was back when I was dating in my 20’s.  So I had my first date today with a gentlemen I met on a dating site.  He was a very nice man, but not really my type.  However in spite of that I did enjoy spending a few hours in the company of a man again.  I am proud of myself as this was a big step for me putting myself out there.  I kinda felt like a kid again in their first date.  This could end up being a lot of fun.  I welcome any tips at navigating the dating scene any of you may have.

You need to have a clear objective of what your want from dating online men reason being that many of these men are also dating multiple woman. That has been my experience. Research dating sites with seniors citizens that may be your best bet. Good luck!

Thank you Aries1958 that’s good advice. The site I joined is for seniors. But I plan to go slow , take it easy be careful.

Congrats for putting yourself out there. I have no tips for you because I've tried it, but it was a different dating world from 1996 when I met my husband. But I am glad you had a positive experience...take care and have a great day.

Trinilisa thank you yes. LOL, my doctor, who used to be my husbands doctor, told me about that site.. When my husband was sick we were there all the time, so she got to know us really well, she was encouraging me to start dating and actually told me about that site. I actually joined that site and have met a few people on there. One person I have been chatting with back and forth a lot. I hope to be able to meet up with soon, but I am trying to be cautious and take things slowly.

Hiya-I also joined that site but as yet no luck.Maybe im doing something wrong.Not use to this new world.Lost wife of 43 years recently and know I have so much to offer that special someone.But it does get kind of depressing not seeing any results.Not the type of person here to sit home and stare at the walls so I guess will keep trying but it sure is tough.Hope all goes well for you dear lady.

I have been single for 20 years after a marriage of 26 years. The first couple of years I dated from online meet ups but found it to be stressful. It has been some years now and considering giving it another try. bmurryclay you stated you lost your wife of 43 years recently, from my experience talking to other single folks, don't be hard on yourself with not having any luck, you need time to grieve before entering a relationship. Give yourself time to enjoy the freedom of talking to other folks during this time. No strings, no commitments, just looking for friendship for now. I was divorced in 1999 and joined a singles group from a church at the time. That was the best time as there was a group of us that would go out dancing, picnics, gatherings, etc. We did a lot of laughing.
