I see so many people who detest online dating, for many reasons, heck I'm one of them. So if you aren't doing online what are you doing to meet single seniors in your area?

I'm not doing anything. Just accepting my fate. I guess you just get used to it after awhile. What else have you tried?

i'm doing nothing and trying to resign myself to what seems inevitable.

I have found that Facebook has opened up more doors than online dating. I asked one of the men I went out with "Why would someone pretend to be one way online and totally different in person?" His response was quite telling, he said they begin to beleive the persona they have created behind the anonymity of the keyboard. BTW, he was one of those people. A nice guy, we had talked via phone, texted, emailed. He had seemed so confident and flirty, then we met and he was so shy he couldn't even make eye contact with me nor engage in a conversation.

I am not trying hard to meet a man. I've have accepted my fate, and am happy with having a social life with friends who are in a similar situation.

i think people often do begin to believe the persona they create on the internet. even in the offline real world people frequently have a less than objective view of who they are. the anonymity of the internet also seems to sometimes bring out the best and the worst in people.

Online dating sites have never yielded any success for me. I know it has for some people, but I'm not one of the lucky ones. Men whom I have met online have been imposters only looking for a hookup, even though they portrayed to be looking for committment. I am an introvert, and I relocated to a new area, so I have been unable to meet single people here. Feel very isolated.

I ran a personal ad in the newspaper. Something along the line of, "Woman with job wishes to meet man with job. Age50-65" I met several very nice men. We would meet at the local burger place for coffee and conversation. I also joined a walking group and met a good guy there.

There is nothing wrong with online dating...Just take precautions before meeting. In this busy day and age one does not meet a man casually in the supermarket. The more u meet online better your chances. You will spot the liars..and don't let them take u off the site until u r sure of him...

I have dated on line and met some very nice men, even if there wasn't chemistry between us. I have also been on a few dates with men that I did not meet on line. I feel it's almost impossible to meet someone if you are middle aged. I am very active in my community and well known. I am a busy person, do volunteer work,, have social engagements. None of these have helped me meet other single men my age. I did find a man on line that I have been dating for over a year, but it took a few dates that were not a "match" before I found him. I have a lot of single middle aged women friends who, for a variety of reason, won't do online dating. None of them have been asked out, ever and they are average people who have been single for many years. They all are waiting for "fate" to happen

Keep trying! Be open! Read the book THE SECRET and apply it to your life. I am 3-1/2 years in to this widow thing, age 59 - first "fix up" right after becoming widowed, I was told I had to smoke pot to meet this friends cousins ... never did meet him! The answer is NO not smoking pot. Gave up even thinking about dating til about 4 months ago ... (no luck on dating sites) ... #1 blind date drank a gallon of rum and coke a night then called me and told me the same stuff 18 times; #2 blind date told me after spending 4-1/2 hours together in a weeks time if sex was not part of picture he was out the door ... I said "theres the door" SIGH ... I am seeing a very nice man I really like a lot ... he is almost too perfect ... by the time I met him (tricked in to being fixed up but glad now) ... I was like "Good Grief! If he takes a daily shower and does not wear womens underwear, I will consider him!"
