I've been trying to get back into dating after 10 years of celibacy. I was severely traumatized by my marriage and only recently felt safe enough to try to find someone to spend my life with. I am 51 yrs old and overweight. I feel good about myself because I have lost 180 lbs. but obviously that isn't enough. Men are very turned off when they see me. I don't feel I look that bad. I know I'm fat, but is that all there is to a person? I'm really discouraged and thinking I should just give up. I am trying to lose weight, but as most of you know that is an uphill battle not easily won, and definitely takes time. I've tried online dating since I live in a very small town and the gene pool is a bit shallow here. The only ones interested in me seem to be crack heads and tweakers. It's very discouraging.

Hi missina.

There is no easy solution.

And all older people are stuck in our own self made ruts.

And we all have lots of past baggage.

The online dating is so scary and stressful that I say it does not work - unless you see some neighbor online who you can talk to in real life.

Whew, after 10 years of celibacy you now feel safe enough to "find someone to spend my life with". At 51 you aren't even a senior, in my opinion, give yourself some time. And hey, give us guys a chance, "men are turned off when they see me", really, every man who sees you finds you repulsive, not likely. If your picture is current, then it would be my opinion that it isn't your looks thats keeping you from dating, it's attitude. I think you maybe expecting to much to fast. Lessee, you got divorced, no dating or sex for 10 years ( or just no sex?) now you want to get back into the relationship game and have lost 180 pounds to make yourself more fit and attractive. You've been surfing the web for a beau. No prospects so far. Determination in a lady, I like it, feel good about yourself, keep working, like the saying goes you may have to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince. Consideration, If he's really worth keeping it won't be just your looks that keep him coming back for more, good luck.

You look cute in your pic. however I am a straight female. I think most woman have so much to offer, and most men...well.....they have dicks. some work, some don't, but it doesn't seem to stop them from being one. So where do we find the other ones?
