"Itch" to SI. I wanted to do bad, but I knew that it was only because I had made myself get rid did of my "tools". I have definitely had urges since, but also, the challenge has helped me prove to myself that I can beat this coping skill and using a more positive one. Just like if you're quitting smoking or drugs, you have to find something to replace that coping skill that was your go to.
The best thing to do with your new therapist is to just be honest. I know it's hard, but the more honest you are with your therapist, the better that s/he can help you. And believe me, I know that it's not fun at all to disclose that you SI, but remember, your therapist isn't there to judge you, they're there to help you. And it's not something they haven't heard before. Hope this helps.
