So I relapsed for a solid week or week and a half up until Wednesday of this last week. My last injury was really severe, and the consequences of not getting stitches led to me having to go to my student health center on campus the next day for fear that I was going to bleed out. It was THAT bad. Long story short, it is healing better now, but I have noticed that one of my really old scars (2+ years old) about 2 cm below the fresh cut has gotten really swollen and is red and raised. It is sensitive to the touch but itches REALLY bad. Is this normal? Has anyone had this happen to them? I haven't applied an ointment or anything for days trying to get the swelling down. It is painful to even have it covered, but because it is so close to my still bleeding cut, I have to keep it covered. Any advice? ~Tracie
Since you've already been brave enough to go to the student health center, maybe it would be worth going back for a follow up.
I have 2 yr old scars that are now white-ish, and when I cut over them they itch but never really get swollen.....
So yea. I'd def go back to the health center like lucky suggested.

Did you hit a vein? Cuz that could probably affect the entire area. Also, you should probably check with a dr. to make sure it isn't an infection...
