Self-Injury Support Group
Whether you or someone you know or love struggles with self-injury, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, meet others going through the same, and get advice on how to stop. Working together, we can help find alternative coping skills to reduce the urge to self-harm.
I must warn you though that it sucks in there. So I would only do it if you really think you are going to kill yourself. I wouldn't go for cutting or anything unless you need stitches. They don't really keep people unless they are suicidal or homicidal. So if you need stitches I would go for that and then tell them you are not suicidal so they send you out of the ER and not up to the psych unit.
People who are drunk or on drugs and out of control will also get thrown in the psych unit. Sometimes the elderly are stuck in there if they have severe dementia and other mental health issues. Some hospitals have a gerontology area for them and some don't, so they are mixed in with the rest in the regular psych unit.
I was thinking of you one day when I was at work (and still had a job) because I was up very high and almost jumped, and it reminded me of your one post.. I just figured I'd tell you so you didn't think you were alone. I get those random urges too.
