Self-Injury Support Group
Whether you or someone you know or love struggles with self-injury, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, meet others going through the same, and get advice on how to stop. Working together, we can help find alternative coping skills to reduce the urge to self-harm.
you could try and busy your hands doing something else. Mostly, drawing and writing are very recommended. You can also try chatting/talking to someone. I'm always available if you'd like to talk :)
good luck. Hugs
I do too and it sucks. I mainly pick at my legs.
It doesn`t have anything to do with dry or damaged skin- even if other people see smooth skin I will always find a little bump or hair or discoloration etc. to pick at.
It`s considered to be a form of ocd and is closely linked to Trychotillomania (Hair pulling).
I`m sure you`ll find more information and tips on the internet but you should definetly tell your therapist.
It is not something you can just stop doing.
But stay strong and it will get better.
Hugs
