Whether you or someone you know or love struggles with self-injury, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, meet others going through the same, and get advice on how to stop. Working together, we can help find alternative coping skills to reduce the urge to self-harm.
The two of them work together to make sure that you get all the help you need. If you find a therapist that you like she will be able to recommend some one that she works with. this way you are more likely to end up with two people who you like and trust who are able to work together well.
It is possible that the nurse and the psychologist just used different terminology. Did you go see you general practitioner? Some times the nurses don't have a firm of a grasp on the specialty doctors so she probably would not be the best to ask. but you only need the two.
