Self-Injury Support Group
Whether you or someone you know or love struggles with self-injury, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, meet others going through the same, and get advice on how to stop. Working together, we can help find alternative coping skills to reduce the urge to self-harm.
-I do breathing exercises

-i've recently found writing. when i feel like cutting it's usually hard to sit down and do but once i start everything comes pouring out as fast as i can write it
--talking to people. in the past i've tried to protect people from my cutting. my mom cut and it made me feel so bad and so powerless so i try to hide it from the people i love so they don't have to feel that. i've recently realized that the people who are close to me are there by choice and they want to be there for me and support me
--helping others. this site does wonders. sometimes when i feel like cutting i come on here and encourage others not to, it makes me feel close to everyone here and know that i'm not as alone as i feel. Also i can't tell someone else to reach out for help and then not do it myself.
--art. i am an artist. i love throwing myself into what ever project i'm doing. it gets my head out of bad places and gives me focus.
--music. i play guitar and i sing. when i'm home alone i will break out my guitar and play and sing to the top of my lungs. i sing out all my emotions. it's a great release. i have difficulty crying even when i wish i could so this is a similar emotional release.
thank you again for such a good topic. hope to see more posts on here.
