Hey everyone
So years ago I went through turmoil, my life a mess. I turned to self harm. It was my bestfriend. I eventually seeked help, went through counselling with a lot of troubles but made it through it!
I have a problem now though. It has been about 2 years since I stopped properly (I relapsed a couple times last year). Except the problem is now I miss it. I don't need it anymore, my life is good, in fact greater than ever. But I feel like it's a part of me, I miss the scars. The scars are who I am and now they've stopped showing up, I don't get the count of watching it slowly change from scab to scar, no more new ones, and all my old ones are pretty much faded now, I feel like part of me is missing now they're gone.
I want to start again not because of sadness, not because I need a release or to let out a breath of relief.
I feel I want to because it was all I had before and I feel like it's a hobby kind of, I want to make my body my art. Not for everyone's staring eyes and judging thoughts.
Just for me, myself (on my legs, only for me to see).
BUT. MY biggest problem now is I am in a relationship, we're fully committed and in love. He knows about my past and has not once judged me, he totally accepted me. When I slipped up last year he was a disappointed because of how far I had come. So that was an accident! If I told him I did it on purpose, he would be even more disappointed. I don't think he'd want to talk to me for a while. He wouldn't understand.
Is that crazy? I need advice.

its not crazy. my arms itch and burn when i dont cut for a while. its strange for people on the outside but its like if you smoke cigarettes, you crave it when its gone. dont ignore it but dont give in to it. find something else to do like a video game or a unfinished sketch. vent to it.

I go through periods of missing hurting myself too, I think the key to any self harm problem whether you want to cut or not is to distract yourself.

How do I distract myself?
missingjgb
go for a walk, text a friend, watch a movie, there are lots of ways to distract yourself but it is much easier said than done.

I wish it were that easy. I live in a tiny rural town. There is nothing to do.

Well how about things you can do at home like arts and crafts, great for keeping hands busy or journal about your day?
nixon2710
I don't know what to journal about?
