I cut my thigh really deeply on Tuesday of this week (4 days ago), and though I know that I probably should have gotten stitches, I didn't want to spend my whole evening in the ER feeling like an idiot. Instead, I have spent the past 4 days feeling like an idiot. I have kept neosporin and bandages (changed every 12 hours) on the cuts, but they are still oozing and bleeding at times, even bleeding through a thick layer of gauze today. I know that it is too late to get stitches, but I don't think that it is normal for it still to be bleeding 4 days later. Is there something that a doctor could do to help me at this point??
I did the same thing last year. I had to go to the hospital by ambulance because I couldn't get the bleeding to stop. The doctor found out that I did knick a vein and I had to have emergency surgery to clean and close the wound. Please don't let the bleeding go on for too long. Even a small amount daily can lower your blood count and make you anemic. I know that from experience too.
Please get yourself to a doctor and get those cuts looked at right away.
