I would urge you not to give up. I believe my current doctor and I have a great therapeutic relationship, however he is the third person I sought help from due to just not feeling "good" about the first two I saw. Not to say they were not great therapist, just not great for me.
Don't give up on yourself so easily, you are definitely not "worthless". You took the first step and should be proud of yourself, keep looking and asking for help. YOU deserve it!!! Hugs!!!
It is normal, however, for you to feel hurt and crap by it. Especially after what it took for you to open up it is understandable to sort of go back into turtle shell mode. (I know because I am the master of turtle shell mode.)
You should be proud of yourself for going and taking a chance! You are trying to recover and help yourself and that is an awesome thing! This lady's reaction has everything to do with her and NOTHING to do with you so try to keep that in mind that her actions say NOTHING about you.
There are so many bad counselors out there. I remember when I was searching for the one I have now I ended up being on the phone with this one lady who spoke like the world revolves around her, put words in my mouth and was just plain full of herself and didnt care. Did not make me feel great - needless to say I did not call her again.
And it is such a shame because such a large part about counseling is feeling comfortable with the therapist. Ive gone through so many I dont even know what number my current one is but its probably somewhere around 10. BUT - I will say I am very comfortable with the one I have now and she is very good.
So don't give up because you DO deserve good treatment! If you are ready to begin your recovery than you should have the best care availible to help you.
Keep on searchin. Go through insurance, etc. I usually search for therapists, etc using psychologytoday.com . You can see their creditials, specialties, etc right there before even contacting them.
Good luck!
