Self-Injury Support Group
Whether you or someone you know or love struggles with self-injury, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, meet others going through the same, and get advice on how to stop. Working together, we can help find alternative coping skills to reduce the urge to self-harm.
I agree with you, it is possible! So, do not give up trying.
This is my first post but for some reason I felt the need to be here. It's been a decade since I was a routine cutter, but the last time that I relapsed was in 2008. I no longer feel the urge to do it (occasionally I remember what it felt like) but people still ask.."What is that on your arm? What happened? " My automatic response was always..."Middle school" with a slightly uncomfortable smile..which usually led to excuses about how it's been so long, making sure that they know I am not doing it now. But I have finally embraced my journey and am able to say "It doesn't matter anymore". I just want you all to know that it does get better and I am happy to know that there is a community of other people out there who have dealt with this and who are seeing themselves on the other side. Keep going!!
