Hi everyone. I'm 7 months cut free as of Sunday. I feel... proud ish. I don't feel happy about it anymore? When I hit 3 months, 6 months, I felt so happy and so proud of myself. I don't know if I can keep it up, to be honest. I don't want to go back... Sometimes I wonder how I even managed to hurt myself as badly as I used to. I'm frustrated because I just want to pretend it never existed, but the scars are always a reminder, as are the memories that go with them. I still crave the physical release that I got from it.
I want to continue on my recovery journey, and I don't want to let myself or others down... but I dont feel supported. I feel like no one cares. I feel that if I talk to friends who are also in recovery, they aren't happy for me because they are angry that they haven't been able to stay cut free as well...
I'm trying to go back to skills I learned in the hospital, like aromatherapy and calming sounds, taking a nap, breathing, all those skills they teach you...... It's so hard to keep up with and the stress of College is getting to me.
If you have suggestions please leave them. I'm in need of hope

Congrats on being cut free for that length of time; I know it's not an easy thing to accomplish. Since you can't rely on friends who are also recovering from SI, try to write little notes to yourself, post a couple on the bathroom mirror; put positive messages on them to keep you motivated and maybe give yourself a little treat when u reach a certain time period. Even treating yourself to a movie u've wanted to see can be a good goal to set; that way you have something to reach for and keep you motivated as well.

It sucks when you have no support. But you have gone seven months and that is freaking awesome! :) I went like nine months before and then gave up. Ehh oh well. But I think you are stronger than that and can keep away from SI. I get that you want that physical release. But you have come so far and I think you should keep it up because you deserve not to hurt yourself! :)

Try writing positive stuff and good thing on a piece of paper. Maybe all the reasons you stopped SIing in the first place? And write good things about yourself. Try to change your mind set.

Ive gone cut free for almost as long and the urges have been bad lately. Its a great accomplishment to go that long cut free though, don't forget that and don't give up on continuing for another 7 months. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself worrying about letting others down if you give in. That just adds to the stress. It does suck that you feel you don't have the support from others around you that SI. You do have support here and we all wish you the best and the strength to continue cut free. I do understand that craving for the release you get from cutting, its so hard to resist but it sounds like you have some good coping techniques in place to help you out. Working out is a good one as well. Try writing too. Also I learned that sticking your hands in ice cold water actually helps because it also causes pain but is safer than cutting. I learned that one in the hospital. You may feel alone at times but you are not.
