Self-Injury Support Group
Whether you or someone you know or love struggles with self-injury, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, meet others going through the same, and get advice on how to stop. Working together, we can help find alternative coping skills to reduce the urge to self-harm.
I really needed a slap-in-the-face sort of moment. I was starting to feel really terrified of the urges, you know? Once that happened, I started building an arsenal of coping skills and I did those things instead. I used to scream my feelings at the ocean. I cried with my best friend. I painted a lot (I actually sold my first painting thanks to that!). I dyed my hair. I wrote music. I took my anxiety out on my messy room and my homework instead of myself.
Now I dont have time to make paintings all the time but I still go for walks and scream at the ocean and I let myself cry more than I used to let myself. I think tears are a sign of deep strength. It's hard to be that vulnerable.
(oops this got really long sorry)
