Self-Injury Support Group
Whether you or someone you know or love struggles with self-injury, this is the community to discuss your experience, find support, meet others going through the same, and get advice on how to stop. Working together, we can help find alternative coping skills to reduce the urge to self-harm.
I agree with valgal, finding a great therapist who YOU feel comfortable with, and feel like you are getting something out of sessions with is vital. Maybe a group therapy group would be helpful as well. As hard as it is, it is always important to let someone know if you are feeling suicidal.
Try to find something that you Love, which helps you dissociate....whether it is drawing, watching movies, listening to music, or whatever you enjoy. It is very helpful, especially on the really hard Days. You can always post here as well.
I'm a dancer, so dance is pretty important to me, it's one of the things that keeps me going.
I've been inpatient at a local hospital twice, it was pretty hard on me. So we're considering ECT (shock therapy) or a cognitive behavioral therapy program for me as a next step. I just get really frustrated that nothing seems to work and that gives me bad panic attacks.
Anyway, thank you for your very supportive comments, I'll be sure to check this place for answers or to help others.
I think DBT has some merits to it. So, that may help you.
(now time for my hypocrite section of my post).... but I find it very curious that you are right brained (artistic)..... you see beauty that us left brained people do not see. Yet you can not see your own beauty? Your own value? Your own worth?
:(
I am not trying to rag on you or do any form of criticism. I am just saddened that you need to harm yourself to cope. I guess it is my wish that you can quickly find a new way of dealing with the suckiness (my word) of life. That you do not direct your pain inward to yourself but outward to the person/persons who have hurt you.
You deserve to be the beautiful you that God created.
