Scoliosis affects all ages. Unlike the naturally occurring curves in the spine, scoliosis causes the spine to curve abnormally to the left or right.
Alright I'll get right down to the question: Have you ever had symptoms of neurological diseases turn out to be caused by your scoliosis?
I ask because I just went through a million (ok 4) tests to see if I had a neurological disease and the one the doctors suspected most was multiple sclerosis. My MRI showed I don't have it, which leaves me relieved and confused.
About three years ago, I was suffering from a lot of back pain and was having considerable trouble in school, playing the violin and especially its big, awkward cousin, the viola. I was sent to a sports injury specialist who bent me over then sent me to get X-Rays pronto, and I was back in his office in less than half an hour with my results. Two thoracic curves just over 20 degrees each and a compensating curve in my lower back.
Since then, I've still had recurring pains and a myriad of other symptoms. Right arm going numb, unable to control limbs, loss of strength in limbs, random muscles twitching, shakey hands, fecal incontinence (ew), temporarily blurry vision in one eye, one leg giving out randomly, etc.
Anyway, these are all symptoms which can result if you have a pinched nerve which controls that portion of your body. Do any of you have those symptoms, whether they're permament or come and go like mine?
I've found that things are getting worse. What prompted me to join this site was that I am back to having a lot of pain but now I'm having difficulty breathing. Is it possible for the curve(s) to progress even after you've done growing?

How is neurofibromatosis diagnosed? I had a brain and cervical spine MRI done a month ago to check for MS but they said my results were fine. Would they have picked anything up from that?
Anyway, thanks for your help. Going to ask my doctor about neurofibromatosis and try to come up with some other things (if other people reply). It can never hurt since I've exhausted his very short list of possibilities.
