Scoliosis in 13 year old girl

Hi I'm new on here just looking for some advice as I'm really worried about my 13 year old daughter she started having back pain on a daily basis we ruled out a uti but pain continued, we seen the gp on Wednesday and when the doctor examined her back she noticed her a shaped curve in her spine she's never had problems before and is usually fit and healthy, I have googled it and it's coming up with all kinds of scary things ? I'm just wondering is this common ? And can it just appear ? She has been referred to a paediatrician and we are waiting for a referral. I was just wondering if any one has similar experience. I would be very great full for any help. Thanks in advance

Hi I am 14 and I have scoliosis yes it is very common to have a curve in your spine that is less then 10 degrees but it is also really common to have scoliosis that is more than 10 degrees it is but isn't common to need a brace but is very rare for surgery even though sadly that's what I need. Don't listen to Google it is usally wrong ask your doctor some useful websites that are trustworthy. Hope that helps xx

hi, i’m new to this site but wanted to communicate with people going through the same thing. my daughter was diagnosed with scoliosis just after her 11th birthday, it was by chance as she had an x-ray for another issue and that’s when the scoliosis was discovered. she has had x-rays ever 6 months for the last 2 years & one x-ray early this year showed a good improvement & it was because how physically active she was in the summer holidays. in August this year her scan came back with severe curvature and is booked in to have the spinal fusion surgery at the end of november…. are we doing the right thing with having surgery?? we are really worried about the surgery and recovery
