Scoliosis affects all ages. Unlike the naturally occurring curves in the spine, scoliosis causes the spine to curve abnormally to the left or right.

My curve was 30 or so when I was a kid and I don't remember anyone seeing it as obvious. I'm sticking with my curve because I've chosen to not have surgery, so any girlfriend I have will just have to accept my deformity, as it doesn't make us any less human. Don't let anyone tell you that it does, you're just you, don't let your disease define how people see you and whether or not they find you attractive. I know a lot of guys can be pretty shallow and judge solely on physical appearance, as I'm not much older than you myself and I've known guys like that. However that is not every guy, so just be patient and don't worry about it too much. Trust me, it's for the best. :)
And I want to share with you what I have learned about love over the past few years. Based on my and my friends experiences, movies, tv, books, have to say about love I thought it was suppose to be hard, that it was suppose to take a lot of work, you know the whole "love is worth fighting for" thing. Well that was all blown out of the water when I met Kevin 2 years ago. Loving him and being loved by him is the EASIEST thing I have ever done. When he tells me he loves me and that I am beautiful I know, with every fiber of my being that he means it. So I want you to know that when you do find yourself in a relationship, if you find that you are the only one fighting to make it work and you end up feeling more hurt than loved than it is not love and you deserve better. Coming one here and sharing your story and asking help dealing with this is incredibly courageous. Do you know what is an insanely attractive quality for someone to have? Courage, especially in the face of adversity. It sounds like you have that in spades and in that regard, are way ahead of other girls your age. Do not settle. You are worth being loved for the amazing person you are, crooked spin and all ;)
I wish you both the best of luck in the future :)
Sorry for the long post hope it finds you in good spirits
I truly believed NO ONE would want to marry me. And would see me as disgusting for my deformed body and never. Growing up, others reaction to it was discust, distain. I thought I'm never getting married. No one could possibly want me. Self esteem was below zero and has been stuck there for years.
I also was TERRIFIED to have children. Pregnancy, labor, I literally considered it would kill me.
You're hearing from someone with a curve in the same place and direction as your pictures. Yet 90 degrees. (what degree was yours if you dont mind me asking?)
Anyways I'm here to tell you there IS HOPE. Everything your afraid of.. Being afraid is what will hurt you more than reality. Everything internal is what is toxic. And believe me. It'll eat you alive.
I'm married to an INCREDIBLE MAN! Who I consider completely out of my league. He's tender, caring, a great father, high standards. AND he honestly says he doesn't mind my condition and would miss it if I changed. Only would want thigns different out of knowledge of how much pain it causes. Of course I don't believe him. I've marinated in years of hating my own body and don't see how it's possible for my situation to be true...
But he really acts like it doesn't bother him. Even in intimate moments. Really.
But trust me. The insecurity is TOXIC. In those moments I completely kill the fire with how insecure I am. I shoot every compliment down. I hate my body and don't see how I could possibly be loved. It bothers him so bad. It's not your body that will even remotely affect a relationship. Its the INSECURITY you have because of it.
And as for pregnancy... I was sooo scared my rotated pelvis whould cause a jam, rotated ribs, displaced organs, thought something would happen like the chord whould wrap or he'd be breach or trapped beneath my ribs like I've read of once.. But no.. I found his body lifted weight off my spine during 2nd tri. Which was relieving. And in 3rd the weight of him did get painful but not too bad. Also my curved body looked much better pregnant. I looked less deformed and like it was just part of a cute pregnant body. Though I wasn't actually less deformed. The bump just complimented the form. I don't know how to explain. Though it did make me look more pregnant sooner because my torso was shorter and baby hadn't much room to move besides out.
Also when labor came around... It was beyond perfect!
We'd opted for a natural birth and it went AMAZING. No pain relief, no drugs. I hear most opt for csection because epidurals are impossible injecting into a curved spine without risking nerve damage. So they resort to Csections for the sake of pain relief that way. Anyway labor was less than 2 hours. from water break to baby. And I was only in hard contractions for maybe 30-40 minutes. Baby came SO FAST. He was perfectly healthy.
Although he did come 20 days early and I went into contractions several times during later pregnancy.
I think this is something you'll have to watch for too. Because there was less room for baby in my body.. he was born sooner. Also I was more sensitive to triggering early contractions. It was so scary having contractions when he wasn't finished yet! As early as 27 weeks, again at 31, 32, and 34. What triggered those early starts is what triggered his actual birth. (We started me into contractions every time we got intimate and had to abstain to prevent early delivery.) So be sure to remember this in the future... and avoid our mistakes.
But believe me both before and during pregnancy we were very active sexually. And had to hold back for babys sake. Hard for me to believe he is even attracted to me.. but the insecurity starts to effect that too... And does so much damage to a relationship.
I have to carry my purse on my right shoulder because it slips right off the left shoulder. Because of this my husband always walks on my left side, out of love for me. One boob is smaller, he has never even acknowledged it. I have a hip and waistline on the left side of my body, but have a boyish non waistline non hip look on the right side of my body. I joke about being deformed. But deep down it isn't funny. I have struggled my entire adult life with my body image. Self esteem sometimes eludes me. Try not to beat yourself up. The right man will love you exactly the way you are.
