Hey! I was wondering if anyone had ever worn the Boston Brace and it proved 2 work 4 them. I wear one and just wanted 2 know if it has proven helpful, proven that it actually WORKS. Or if there is no garantee that after I wear this thing for like 2 years it will have helped anything at all.

I am a doctor specializing in the treatment of idiopatic scoliosis. The prognosis with the Boston brace is poor, because of compliance issues, muscle atrophy, and growth disturbances. Not to mention, it has not been proven to reduce the curve. The only hope is to stop progression, which is often lost after the brace is removed. I worn a Boston Brace from 6 to 9th grade.
Of course that was back in the late 70's.
It was to stop progression. Did it do that I have no idea. Once I was out of the brace I don't remember ever going back for check ups.
I will say this as I'm getting older I'm having alot more back pain. Are they still using the Boston brace?

I am currently using a boston brace so yes they still use it. my curve has only grown a little in the last year and 1/2 since i started wearing it. I think it definitly helps in the long run. hope that helped.
