Hey Saz, I had scoliosis surgery 4 years ago. I have two rods fused to my spine as well as a chain and 2 synthetic discs and lots of screws! Before my surgery my orthopedist, Dr. Siambanes, who is a scoliosis specialist and literally helped invent the flexible titanium rods they use for the surgeries, went through everything with me. I'm not a medical expert, but I'm fairly certain you should have no issues starting a family! You shouldn't have to have a C-section. The only thing that might alter your experience, as this is my case, you may not be able to have an epidural because of the metal. But if your goal is natural birth, this shouldn't be an issue. I'd talk to your orthopedist, but I am pretty certain you're in the clear. I wish you the best, and I'm here if you want to talk more!

I had scoliosis spinal fusion surgery for a 45-degree curve when I was 10. I'm 51 now. Still have a rod and screws. Went to a scoliosis specialist a few years ago because I was paranoid that my curve was getting worse. X-Ray showed all is still good Anyway, I have three adult sons Gave birth to them when I was 24, 27, and 31. All three pregnancies were normal and carried to term. All three were vaginal deliveries. At 24, I chose natural. At 27, I was approved for an epidural but got to the hospital 8 cm dialated and again went natural By 31, I figured I might as well just stick it out. The only negative I attribute to the spinal fusion is that all of my labor pains were in my lower back. I never felt any type of pain in my abdominal area. Since I was a child when I had my surgery, I've never really felt limited. it's what I know. I hope this helps you. I,too, am here if you want to talk more. God Bless

Yeah I think there should be no problem with this, even without researching. I think since this is like the most important function of life, things like this should rarely be a problem even with a big curved scoliosis... I don't think there will be harm for the baby or you.
