I really want to talk to someone about this. I was diagnosed more than ten years ago, and I had the surgery more than six years ago. For everyone else, it's over. It was over before junior high.

But for me, it's still happening. It's still a big part of my life, and a big part of who I am. It affects what I can do, what I can lift, how I can move. Every day, I have to take inventory and decide what I can and can't do, and I have to reevaluate that every half hour or so.

I wouldn't ask anyone to listen to that. I just wish people were more curious. I have had one conversation in the past ten years about my scoliosis. That was my senior year of high school, when a bunch of the underclassmen got curious enough to ask me questions. One! And it lasted all of ten minutes.

I just wish I could talk about scoliosis to someone who has never had scoliosis. Answer their questions. Share my experiences. Make them see I'm really not that different.

To everyone else it's over. But to me, it will never end.
