Scleroderma is a rare, chronic disease characterized by excessive deposits of collagen. Scleroderma affects the skin, and in more serious cases it can affect the blood vessels and internal organs. The most evident symptom is the hardening of the skin and associated scarring.

Does anyone here have erythromelalgia along with your scleroderma? This Tuesday I had my 6 month checkup with my scleroderma specialist and told him that my palms and soles get red especially in the middle in the night, and wake me with burning pain. Hot showers, and exercise also trigger it. He said he thinks I have erythromelalgia.
Last night I was up in the middle of the night with pain, and looking at my red, burning feet and hands, and so this morning after my warm shower, I had my husband take a photo of my feet. I sent it to my scleroderma specialist, and he wrote back confirming the diagnosis. It seems it's a very rare thing. I know that at least one other scleroderma patient on sclero.org has said she has it.
I am wondering how many of the rest of you have it.

I hope that you can find some relief from this, is it related to reynaud's? I have had issues with that before but even that seems to be in remission or as my hubby jokes....I have put on some insulation so the cold doesn't bother me as much......I'd rather be thin again and cold.

Do your hands get red with this pain? I've found that when I raise my hands and feet, the redness drains from them, and they feel somewhat better. I've read people say that's the case in erythromelalgia.
