Sciatica is a term meaning pain that originates from compression of the sciatic nerve, the longest and largest nerve in the body. If the sciatic nerve is pinched or compressed (perhaps by a bulging disc in the low back) a patient may experience leg pain--the classic symptom of sciatica.

2:28 am and cannot sleep

Every single night the pain comes back, stabbing. I walk around the house in agony, screaming and breathing sooooo fast. I cannot remember what sleep WAS. I actually fear it now. I have a doctors appt in a few days but between them I do not know what else to do. Have tried position therapy and sometimes good,sometimes not. I am going insane, literally insane.

Man, how I know the pain! You don't want to sleep because that makes it worse when you try and stand afterward.

I am sad to say it is good to know I am not the only one.

I know the feeling, I'm tired (literally) of sleeping a whole hour and then staying up the rest of the time and end up watching the sun rise.
I just want this pain to go away.

I have found a regimented exercise pattern: leg bends right up 4 times, 10 sec and left up 4 times 10 sec, both up 10 sec and then hot showers on the back 10 to 20 min as long as I can stand it. Tylenol PM at night if I need it.
