VOICES!!!!

The voices in my head keep telling me i'm worthless and boring. Whenever I tell my parents about the voices they just tell me it's the devil trying to influence me. They tell me to tell him to go away. I do believe in God and Jesus, but I don't really think it's the devil in my head. I don't know what to think. But I do pray about the voices and fears/delusions, but sometimes I feel as if I am being ignored. I am on Thorazine and it does help with the voices a little bit, but not with the fears. I am still scared half to death on a regular basis. I am extremely afraid of my own death. The voices in my head tell me all sorts of things. But I would never kill myself because like I said, i'm afraid of my own death. I also suffer from major depression and anxiety. I see my psych on a regular basis. He just increased the Thorazine, but i'm still waiting for the extra to kick in. I just saw him so it might take a little while.

Thorazine is the oldest AP out there. Have you tried any of the other AP's? I agree with you it is not Satan in your head. I have been accused of that before too. It is an illness like cancer or diabetes....chemical, imbalance of neurotransmitters. I believe in God and Jesus. I am a Christian and would never kill myself because I believe my body is the temple of God. I do also find myself afraid most of the time like you. So I know what you are talking about. Hopefully the increase of med dose will help you but like I said there are dozens of other newer AP's. I have had a struggle finding meds that worked for 25 years. I now am on what I consider the best combo I have tried and although I still have some voices I am able to ignore them. My pdoc said some people just never have their voices stopped and have to deal with them. I am one of those people. I am so sorry you are having a difficult time. Maybe you could ask for a supplemental AP to go with your Thorazine? I don't know. I don't have any answers. Life with sz is difficult.

I wish I could get my parents to understand it really is a chemical imbalance in the brain. I've known that for a long time, but my mom especially keeps telling me it's the Devil trying to influence me. It is very frustrating trying to talk to my parents about my disability.

I have difficulty with my parents accepting my diagnosis as well. They think that my symptoms are made up or have rubbed off on me by people I see in the hospital or out patient group as if that could happen.

I have Schizoaffective Disorder & hear voices too. It's not the Devil, it's juts subvocal speech. Part of my brain talking to another part of my brain. It's still you talking to yourself is what I'm trying to say.

Saphris is a much more recent antipsychotic, that or Latuda is what I would recommend. Thorazine and Haldol are the two oldest antipsychotics and are considered not that good with a lot of side effects.

Schizophrenia and Schiaozffective Disorder are mental illnesses based on chemical imbalances and changes in the brain, not anything having to do with religion.

I'm so sorry your family doesn't understand that. Have you tried getting therapy or seeing a psychiatrist? I do both and it helps a lot. Sometimes even just to check and see if some of my fears are legitimate with a reality check or not.

I do actually already see a psych and a counselor. The Thorazine does work, I just need a higher dose apparently. My psych recently increased it. So, I hope that starts to help with the voices a little more. Right now the voices are still there.

Success has found me with the adjustments of unbelief that are present in fleshly thinking. Meds are still in my life but I ask for the Word to change me inside out. I have learned to have a defense and offense for my schizophrenia with entail multiple angles in the battle.When the meds have the brain closer to balance studying the KJV scriptures help ma more than I can describe.
