Im on clonapin now. The last doc would not prescribe it to me no matter how much i begged and told him it would make me able to work. I spent a few days looking for jobs a while back. Bad places like fast food, stupid restartuants where everybody seemed miserable. How can people be that miserble. O how it would be so much easier if i knew i could do whatever i wanted with out the threat of going into psychosis. We have the problem of being bored. No way we can sit around on eight hundred dollars a month with a four fifty rent. Barley making it finacially all the while bored , and life seems pointless with no goals. What a torture. I just need some experienced advice on what to do. I know i can work with the clonezpam, but sometimes i still get way off. I am stuck at a fork in the road. There is danger either way i choose. One of dying of bordome and purposelessness, the other of not being able to work because of a psychosis and ending up on the street begging for food. Idk.....what does a human do....this sucks. Thanks for any advice on the matter if you know what im talking about!
Personally I have chosen to stay on disability because I know I will have another psychotic break. I still live with my parents although I pay rent there. I choose not to work, not that I even could.
Suggestions on boredom are volunteering somewhere like an animal shelter or hospital, taking up a hobby like painting or colored pencil, .....sorry that is all I can think of now. But you can probably come up with some things that suit you.
Just know that you are not alone in this feeling bored thing.
Why don't you apply for SSDI? I get approximately $1000... a month with my SSI and SSDI combined.
Personally, I tried going through a vocational specialist at my mental health agency to go back to work and I found the process, impersonal, uncaring, and unrealistic, and just the search and trying to shape up to "be professional" caused my symptoms to flare up again. I wouldn't be able to afford my own medical care on the jobs they wanted me to take, and they wanted to graduate me off, which was really upsetting to my therapist, because she just wanted me to work part time for a couple of hours a week.
I know 2 people that have gone back to work and love it, but they have made sure they are doing things that suit them and that they love.
Most cases are rejected the first time around. My advice to you is to appeal and get a lot of history from your pdoc and other places like hospitalizations, PHP's , IOP's and maybe even an advocate for you like an attorney.The more you have on your side information wise the better. Good luck!!
