As of late it has been very interesting. Im doing reasearch,started almost by accident, on schizophrenia and aspergers syndrom. I see that a lot of the traits i have are aspergers and a lot are schizophrenia though the symptoms seem to overlap and are very similar. Some say that you can have both, and some say you cant. They say aspergers is somthing that is with you at the begining to the end so is seen in childhood, and schizophrenia has its onset usually in males between 18 and 25. I cant really recall my social skills before about 8th grade, but after that i was social isolated and lacking in social skills to the extreme of social withdrawal. This as far back as can remember started at the age of about 13 or 14. The time i was diagnosed with schizophrenia was about 18 and the exact time i had the first so called schizo episode. Every thing ive read so far seems to be unsure almost about everything concerning the difference in schzo symptoms and aspergers. IVe read from people with AS that a lot of people think they can see into the spiritual world, so halucinations are common. Some say that the dividing line is that schizophrenics suffer from delusions and AS doesnt, but a hallucination is seeing and believing something that is not there so you could call that a delusion right? My question to ya'll is what is the difference between AS and schizophrenia, can you tell the difference, and could you have both? All the meds im on could be treated to people that are normal, people with AS and also people with schizophrenia. Risperodal, celexa,can both be prescribed for AS to help with anxiety and aggitaion, so i guess that would help with one of the main symptoms of AS which is lack in social skills. I also take seroquel which can be prescribed for anxiety or even as a sleep aid. Let me know what you think ,and any feed back will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
