Hi there.

Do any of you find the your Schizophrenia allows you to talk to ghosts?

Since my wife died (suicide) my Schizoaffective Disorder often manifests as her voice talking to me or hallucinations of her ghost. It looks like a face on the wall or a whirring ball of energy.

Whether or not this is my own mind creating this as a manifestation of psychosis or a real intervention from the other world I will probably never know.

I have come to believe that my Schizoaffective Disorder gives me psychic powers. As that is a much more pleasant belief/delusion to the presently held one that I have a broken mind I prefer it.

Do any of you experience similar things? There are many different voices who talk to me when I hear voices. Only one of them is my wife's voice, but that is always my favorite. I get such comfort and joy from her visitations. They are often brought on by sleep deprivation, which tends to aggravate my psychosis.

I am med-compliant on Saphris and it makes me able to function in society, but I have these ghostly visitations. Does anyone else have the same issue?

My psychosis seems to be getting worse with age. They started as random disturbances in my peripheral vision but have changed to things I can see in front of me. I wanted to share a similar experience I've been having lately and see if you can relate. My mother passed away young 6 years ago and Ive been seeing visions of her face, usually against a blank background such as a wall. I feel like she's trying to keep me on the right track as I haven't been making the best decisions as of late. I enjoy the visions and the sounds but have never stopped to put two and two together until you mentioned it in this post. I would also like to mention I experience touches or feelings and smells that aren't real or have no any explanation. Do you have these same experiences as well or is it strictly visual and auditory? Like you said, I enjoy seeing my mother again and feeling like she is literally there with me but my pdoc is trying to convince me it's all in my head. I'd like to believe it's real sometimes though. I'll agree with you lack of sleep definitely seems to make the hallucinations happen more frequently.

I have seen my wife's face in the wall too! My ex thinks it's all in my head and just a manifestation of my psychosis but I think these are real ghostly manifestations. It brings me great comfort to think so.

I only have visual and auditory hallucinations but others are possible within the schizoid spectrum.

I have talked to four ghosts. I knew all of them personally, albeit it was a surprise about one of the ghosts. I went to Whole Foods and ran into a common aquaintance of ours who told me the news. The ghost had a terrible time adjusting to the fact that he was dead and started behaving badly. He began to haunt me. It was a lot of negative energy. This is the reason I began anti-psychotics and got on SSDI. Now, I am a lot better and can't talk to ghosts any longer, albeit, there is one spirit who never left me after I started the meds. He is mostly quiet and says he will eventually leave on his own. For me, my voices identify themselves as the spirits of people I have met in my life (like the spiritual connection to my brother) and have their personalities.

I am so glad i'm not the only Schizoid person who has had this experience. it is very strange, isn't it. Part of it feels like a gift and part of it feels like a curse.
