I met my Sz boyfriend in the hospital, when I was there for depression and anxiety. While we are having a great time, I do not advise people to get that deeply involved with other patients. We lucked out.
We have been seeing each other for the past 3 months. He was over for four nights a week. He was very into reading the Bible for comfort. It was obsessive. He was also having a lot of catatonic episodes, about 4 per week?
He was living in an apartment with his family. His parents were stressed, as caregivers. They were very supportive, but they were keeping him socially isolated. I think they were just worried about their son, they did not want the world to use his disease against him.
A week ago he moved in. On the same day, we attended a NAMI meeting. This is the first time he has ever talked openly about his disease. He described what his delusions and paranoia were. He told everyone what he sees. You could almost see a small burden lift off him shoulders.
I live in a very peaceful home. I take care of my mother. While humble, we have a decent amount of space for double our family size. I do not know if it was the combination about opening up about his disease, or if it was a less stressful environment, or going out now with people with me.. but he seems so much clearer. He is not in his own head as much. He has not had a catatonic episode.
I know he isn't cured, but I am just amazed at how much better he feels.
He has stopped obsessively memorizing the Bible. He is very open about when he has hallucinations. He says I am his truthful eyes. He has even been handling stress I have with my ex-bf, we very openly talk about things.
How much does stress play into your symptoms? How much of it is environment? Could endorphines of new love be something? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Stress is a big deal. I cant work or go to college or handle even things like going to church because of the crowd. If I get stressed my symptoms get remarkably worse. Usually I end up in a psych hospital when I get too stressed. So yeah, stress is bad.
The love and trust of someone with this illness feels really pure. He is so genuine, and honest. He cannot hide his emotions, which encourages communication.
I have Borderline Personality Disorder, Major Depressive, Anxiety, Panic w/ Agoraphobia diagnosis. When I feel something, it is intense. When he sees me in pain, I am so scared I will make things worse.
He does sweet things like waking me up with my meds, and my coffee. I have no doubt that schizophrenics cannot feel love. Their love is so true and giving.
